Subterranean termites are extremely small, at about ⅛” long. They’re creamy white to dark brown or black colored, with a long, narrow and ovular body.
Drywood termites can be a creamy white to off-brown color, and their length usually falls between ⅜” to 1” long. They have very large wings that lay flat against their backs, and their bodies are long and ovular.
Formosan termites are ½” in length, and creamy white or brown colored. They have 6 legs and a wide waist. These insects organize themselves into a caste system, which means that different types of Formosan termites have different tasks.
