Winter | December - February

Active Pests:

  • Cockroaches
  • Rodents

Prevention Tips:

Rodents, cockroaches and other pests are trying to survive the winter months and will try to seek shelter in your home to ride out the cold. Making your home as difficult as possible for pests to enter is an effective way to prevent an infestation.

  • Check the exterior of your home for any potential entry points for pests. Seal up any gaps in doors or windows and fill any cracks on the exterior of your home.
  • Ensure food in your refrigerator and cabinets are stored properly, take out trash regularly and use your garbage disposal when you can to prevent attracting pests into your home.
  • Keep trees and bushes trimmed back so rodents can’t use them as “highways” to your house.

Spring | March - May

Active Pests:

  • Ticks
  • Sugar Ants
  • Carpenter Ants
  • Termites

Prevention Tips:

Spring is when the pests that have been hiding all winter come out to play. It is important to be proactive with your pest prevention during this time to reduce reproduction.

  • Have your house inspected for termites, and have your home put under a termite bond if it isn’t already. Termites are an expensive pest to be dealing with, so it’s better to be prepared with a termite bond.
  • Eliminate any sources of moisture in your home to prevent termites and other pests.
  • Check your pets for ticks and fleas regularly, and consider putting your pets on flea prevention if they aren’t already.
  • Get ahead of the curve and have your yard treated for mosquitoes.

Summer | June - August

Active Pests:

  • Fleas
  • Stinging Insects
  • Mosquitoes
  • Cockroaches

Prevention Tips:

Summer means increased insect populations. Be sure to use insect repellent when spending time outdoors.

  • Continue to check your pets for fleas and ticks regularly. If you’ve been outside on a hike or doing yard work, be sure to check yourself for ticks as well!
  • Begin or continue mosquito prevention for your yard. Empty any sources of standing water in your yard.
  • Keep your yard mowed and shrubs trimmed back to make your yard less inhabitable for unwanted pests.

Fall | September - November

Active Pests:

  • Spiders
  • Fleas

Prevention Tips:

While the worst of the summer insects have tapered off, the cooler weather means that those pests you experienced outside will soon be wanting to come indoors for shelter. Stay on top of your pest control with these strategies.

  • Take out yard garbage promptly and ensure your outdoor trash can is sealed well to prevent flies.
  • Take advantage of our spider web removal service, and use scents that are known to deter spiders, like peppermint and cinnamon.
