Eliminate pest food sources to keep your home pest-free


  • Discard stale and out-of-date pantry staples
  • Wipe down insides of cabinets
  • Install fresh shelf paper
  • Clean behind kitchen appliances, including stove and refrigerator
  • Scrub kitchen counters

Tidy up your bedroom to keep away fleas, bed bugs, and other pests


  • Remove everything from closets, vacuum, and replace items neatly
  • Sweep/vacuum underneath bed
  • Clean behind and underneath furniture such as dressers, wardrobes, and chests of drawers
  • Wash windows and dust window sills
  • Dust light fixtures and lamps

Reducing moisture in bathrooms keeps pests at bay


  • Empty cabinets, clean inside, and replace items neatly
  • Wash windows and window sills
  • Clean mirrors
  • Dust around light fixtures

Clean your living room to eliminate fleas, spiders, and other insects

  • Pull everything out of your garage to making cleaning easier
  • Wash the walls, sweep the floor, and mop if needed
  • Take the opportunity to organize and store loose items
  • Dust corners to remove cobwebs
  • Donate or throw away unwanted items

A tidy home exterior will make it harder for pests to gain entry to your home


  • Clean gutters
  • Wash driveway
  • Clean exterior siding
  • Wash windows
  • Check for wasp nests and contact a professional for removal
  • Seal any gaps around windows and doors
  • Check for cracks around cables and pipes and seal as needed

Eliminate pest habitat with regular yard maintenance


  • Mow grass
  • Trim back trees and shrubs
  • Weed and clear debris from flower beds and planters
  • If using mulch, leave a strip of bare ground between mulch and exterior walls
  • Rake up and dispose of leaves
  • Stack firewood away from your home’s exterior
