Size: Approximately ½- inch in length

Color: Brown.

Habits

In homes they locate as close to food and water as possible. Bathrooms and kitchen are ideal locations. Cracks and voids are perfect resting areas for the German cockroach.

Tips for Control

As with other species of cockroaches, the German cockroach needs food, water and shelter to survive. The following steps can help in preventing and limiting infestations:

General tips for limiting infestation:

• Inspect incoming food goods, boxes, and used furniture joints
• Avoid storing food items in cardboard boxes.
• Do not store paper bags under the sink or in any kitchen area. Paper bags or products should be stored in a dry room or garage.
• Seal holes or cracks around plumbing pipes under sinks and around toilet piping.
• Vacuum and clean floors under kitchen appliances on a regular basis.

This species is very difficult to control and eliminate. Often over-the-counter products cannot eradicate the problem. HOME Pest Control’s professional consultants and technicians can provide you with the program to meet your needs.
